Young Barbary Lioness Picture

Brief Description of Barbary Lioness: Barbary Lion Scientific name: (Panthera leo leo). Shown in the picture is a young Barbary Lioness wit The young Barbary Lioness looking  quite relaxed, without a care in the world. Barbary lions was once used by Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia had at one time had several Barbary lions inside and outside of his palace, No wonder he was moniker as the Lion of Judah. These animals also known as Atlas lions or Nubian lion have become extinct in their habitat of North Africa. It is estimated that there are only about 100 Barbary lions in captivity through out the world. The last of the Barbary lions in the wild was shot in 1922. At one stage during the Middle Ages lions were kept at the Tower of London and these are said to be that of the Barbary lion species. Its a pity that man is so thoughtless and destructive in causing the extinction of these beautiful animals in of the wild. However, in the 1830's these lions could be seen at the London Regents Park zoo, but luckily,  Barbary Lions can be seen in the United Kingdom  at Lympne Wild Animal Park located in Kent.
