A Description of the Yellow-crested Cockatoo bird as shown in photograph above: Scientific name for Yellow-crested Cockatoo bird: is (Cacatua sulphurea). Yellow-crested Cockatoo exotic birds are also identified as Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo. This breed of Yellow-crested Cockatoo bird is in effect endangered in its natural habitat where their numbers is said to have declined considerably due to illegal trapping for cage-bird trading. Current population of this species of Yellow-crested Cockatoo is estimated by scientists as approximately 10,000 in the wild. The Yellow-crested Cockatoo exotic birds inhabit open woodland, the edges of forests and cultivated fields and sometimes seen in villages perched on coconut palm trees. In the wild Yellow-crested Cockatoos normally feed in treetops on seeds, nuts, berries, fruit and blossoms where large flocks of the species are likely to congregate. As pets these birds can become insanely jealous, chasing and attacking humans, those deemed to be competitors.
