These species of parrots are also called Chattering Lory. It is on record that there are about 120 types of Lory or lorikeet if one includes the subspecies. The Yellow-backed Lorikeets are brightly coloured with quite brilliant glossy plumage. The Yellow-backed Lorikeets are smallish in size roughly about 20 to 30 cm with sharp long bill. In the wild they are mostly found in such areas as Australasia and Indonesia and like all parrot birds, they are intelligent and colourful. Yellow-backed Lorikeets is said to have a lifespan of between twenty to thirty years. The Yellow-backed Lorikeet birds are confident and highly active bird. Unless they have plenty of space in a very large aviary they should be caged alone as they have been known to be aggressive towards other birds. Apart from that they are quite acrobatic and loves to hang upside down.
