Wild Ring-necked Parakeet

Description of the Wild Ring-necked Parakeet: Scientific name (Psittacula krameri). Wild ring-necked Parakeets are gregarious tropical parakeet species of Asiatic origin. Hence the fact, these wild Indian ring-necked parakeet species are characteristically, green in colour with red beaks that features a black tip on their upper beak. The male species of the wild ring-necked parakeets have a prominent black ring with pink and pale blue outer rings around their necks while the female species also have rings but they are generally very pale and difficult to observed. Both male and female ring-necked parakeets are medium sized birds with hooked beaks and long tail. On average these wild parakeet birds can measure up to 16 inches in length. Their central tail feathers have a bluish colour, tinted with a yellow green and outer tail feathers are pure green. The upper mandible of their beaks is red-orange while the lower mandible is black. These wild parakeet birds can be seen flying in flocks of thirty or more in areas such as Dulwich Village, South London, and have been sighted in other Urban areas throughout the U K.
