Brief Description of the British Bobby  Two British Bobbies, who are British policemen on the beat at Buckingham Palace. It was the Saxons who first brought the police system to England.  In 1742 troops used to keep law and order, then  in 1829 the government  passed the Metropolitan Police Act but it only applied to London and no where else in Britain. Bobbies" or "Peelers" was named after Sir Robert Peel.
