Description of Squirrel Monkey: Squirrel monkeys are normally found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. Squirrel monkeys are  the New World monkeys of the genus Saimiri. Male squirrel monkeys become sexually mature at the age of five years old, and while the female squirrel monkeys become sexually mature at roughly between two and a half years to three years old. Squirrel monkeys on the whole are seasonal breeders; and birth usually come about in the wet rainy season between February and April. The squirrel monkey have a life expectancy of 15 years in the wild and 20 years in captivity. Squirrel monkeys omnivores, eating primarily fruits and insects, and occasionally, they will eat nuts, buds, eggs and small vertebrates. Common squirrel monkeys are normally captured and used for medical research or they are captured to be sold to pet traders. Squirrel monkeys are in danger of likely to become extinct.
