These primate animals are of African origin and distribution of the breeds is found in most African countries such as the Republic of Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda and Zaire. The rainforest L'hoest Monkey habitats mainly woodland forest and rainforest. These rainforest L'hoest monkeys are of medium sized, dark grey in colour with a chestnut saddle, grey face and white beard! In the wild they feed on fruits, vegetable, leaves, mealworms and primate pellets. The L'hoest Rainforest Monkey is of the arboreal species (tree living) but spend much of the day on the ground foraging for food. It is noted that these rainforest monkey species are endowed with cheek pouches allowing them to carry food while they forage. L'hoest Rainforest Monkeys have a lifespan of about 9 years, although, the males are much larger than the females and live longer than the female species, but with the incessant deforestation of their habitat, these breed of monkeys could one day become extinct in the wild! | |
