The Sunbittern Bird is quite an elegant bird with long legs, slender neck with a stout body and a moderately small head for their size. What is striking about Sunbittern birds, their body plumage is full and soft with elaborate designs of colours which the male species spreads in courtship or threat display or used for startling potential predators. The Sunbittern head is black with white stripes above and below their ruby-red eyes. Sunbittern Birds has brown colouration on their necks, breasts, shoulders and their bellies, and hidden under all that brown plumage is a rich orange-chestnut like patch near to the tip of each wing. Their lower jaw and legs are of a bright orange colour. Their throats and undertail has traces of pale buff white. Sunbitterns build their nest in trees and during their breeding season they lay only two eggs which consists of blotched markings.
