History tells us that The official name for Regent's Park is, "The Regent's Park." and it is also known as the "jewel in the crown." Regent's Park was once the Forest of Middlesex, and like most of the other Royal Parks, Regent's Park formed part of the vast chase which was created by King Henry VIII! The chase remain in the royal family until the end of the civil war in 1646 when it fell into the hands of the Commonwealth. The general public was not allowed in Regent's Park until 1835 when King George IV was reigning and even so the public was only allowed into certain sections of the Park for two days on a weekly basis. Today Regent's Park is open to the public without restrictions! Along with other royal parks, Regent's Park is one of London's more famous landmarks comprising of a lake, villas, botanical gardens, waterfalls, water fountain, and the famous Regent's Park wild animal zoo! | |
