They are more delicately graceful than any other heron bird and much smaller than the grey herons. Little Egrets are found Britain, Europe, Australasia, Asia and Africa. Little egrets habitats such places as reservoirs, rivers, brackish lagoons flooded fields and estuary. The egret bird breeds in trees by waterside and bushes, they normally feeds by edges of lakes. Diet consists of mostly small fish, large insects, a wide variety of small animals and amphibians. Little Egrets hunts in belligerent typed fashion by darting, twisting and dashing about in pursuit of their preys. Long ago, these beautiful elegant looking white egret's neck plumes when in breeding season plumage, were considered far more valuable than gold. | |
