Description Fern Tree: Fern Tree are one of the oldest types of plants on the face of the Earth. Tree Ferns evolved long before even the dinosaurs arrive. There are over 20 species of fern tree, but there are two species of the Dicksonia type ferns that are more famous; 1. Dicksonia (squamosa) which is known as the New Zealand Tree Fern. These fern require to grow in glasshouses which gives it protection all year round and 2. The Dicksonia (antarctica) which is  Tasmanian or Australian Tree Fern. This fern tree is grown all over the United Kingdom. In Victorian times ferns were fashionable and even today in this time, the fern tree are still used for adding impact and structure to a garden. There are those quite large tree fern with trunks that grows high above the ground. The tree fern can also be found growing in tropical, subtropical areas, temperate rainforests, in Malaysia,  Australia and a  number of other islands.
