Female Mallards nests on a river bank, but never close to the water and as soon as the ducklings are hatch they are able to swim, they can help themselves by feeding on insects, the female mallard will always keep a close watch on her off-springs for protection! These species of ducks habitats wetlands, parks, ponds, lakes and rivers and they feeds by dabbling in water for vegetable plants near the surface of the water!
