Brief Description of Grumman Bearcat F8F-2P Graphic: The Bearcat was first intended as an interceptor fighter. US Navy ordered 4000 Bearcats in 1944 2,000 each from Grumman and General Motors. The US VF-19 division actually took delivery of its Bearcats from Grumman in May 1945. World War II ended quite early and the United States Navy decided to cancel the order of 2000 from General Motors.
