Bentley Brookland 6.75litre Saloon A Brief History of Bentley Cars: Car shown in picture above is that of a 1992 Bentley Brookland luxury Saloon car taken on location at the Shoreham-by Sea Airshow. The first Bentley was produced in 1919, but the vehicle did not become available to the public until 1921. Nonetheless, Bentley motor cars went on to win 5 Le Mans 24-hour race wins during the years of 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1930. Bentley Motors competition cars was too strong for the Rolls-Royce Motors. But although Bentley motor cars was highly successful in competitive races, their motor car sales was quite poor indeed! Eventually, the inevitable happened! The Bentley Motor Car Company went into receivership! Then in 1931 Rolls Royce Motors quickly stepped in to buy out the Bentley Motor Company for a measly sum of £125,265 though a lot of money in those days. In the process of the take over, the founder of Bentley Motors became chief engineer to the Rolls Royce Motor Company! | |
