These breed of dogs are sometimes seen in dog show rings. Australian Shepherd dog is really an American dog breed that is originally from the Basque region of Spain. These breed of dogs was taken to Australia by their sheep herding masters who eventually emigrated to North America at the end of the 19th century with their animals mainly their dogs. *The Australian Shepherd dog was first officially recognised in the United States during the 1950s! They are indeed, fairly new to the United Kingdom! History has it, that the Australian Shepherd dog is a herding dog with guarding instincts, they are very protective of the space they consider their own and they have a tendency to be reserved with those they do not know, and they benefit from early socialisation! They make lovely pets! *Australian Shepherd dogs are predominantly intelligent and indeed, very agile dogs. The dog is faithful to his own family and is very keen to work. This dog breed wont be happy being a a dog that is always made to idle within home. Although Australian Sheep dogs can be dominant, they are a breed dogs that has to be trained, as they need to a certain extent their mind needs to be occupied.
